HISTORY
the Jane’s Heritage
the Jane is completely consistent with the urban setting, blending today’s efficiencies with a period-specific design that takes advantage of many of the features of the original building, which once served as an elevator factory, and features high-ceilings, expansive windows offering abundant natural light, the original sky lights and deep bay depths, among other architectural features.
“the Jane is one of the best adaptive re-use projects I have seen,” said Rick Hudson, who serves as the Land Use and Zoning Chair for the Grant Park NPU. “The architect, Alan Hoss, who lives in Grant Park, has done a great job in mixing historic preservation with adaptive re-use, so that the building retains some of its historic character and complements the design of other buildings in the area.”
Here are some “Before” shots of theJane when it was the Southern Wire factory.
